In 1943, the president of the republic Getúlio Vargas created five new federal territories for military reasons, of which the present-day state of Roraima was called the Território Federal do Rio Branco.

The federal territory of Rio Branco was officially established on September 13, 1943 by Law No. 5812,

Article 14 of the Act of Transitory Provisions of the Constitution of Brazil stated that the Federal Territory of Roraima would become a state. The law was promulgated in 1988 and the territory became a state on 5 October 1988.

 

The arms of Roraima  are:

 

Arms: Per pale, the dexter Azure a white ibis (Eudocimus albus - Threskiornitidæ) proper, the sinister Argent, a golddigger Sable; and a chief of a landscape with the Serra Parima in the distance proper.

Supporters: An indigenous bow and arrow in saltire

Garland: Ears of wheat proper.

Motto: ESTADO DO RORAIMA in black lettering on a green scroll.

Army

 

 

Roraima is a part of the 12th Military Region together with the states of Amazonas, Acre and Rondônia.

Its headquarters are in Manaus (AM).

 

 

The arms of the Military Police of Roraima consist of a shield of the colours of the flag of France which is considered to be the cradle of modern police. It is charged with two pistols in saltire and the legend RORAIMA and POLÍCIA MILITAR all Or.

The arms are crested with a helmet symbolizing the nobility of the service and is supported  by an native indian and a military policeman.

Below is a scroll with the date of the foundation of the service and the motto NON NOBIS SED VOBIS (Not for Ourselves but for You), surrounded by leaves of laurel.
